Cape Lodge
Exquisite Vineyard Haven in Australia's Margaret River Region
Why guests love Cape Lodge
An eight-acre vineyard unfolds across the property, its vines producing estate wines in the heart of Margaret River, where some of Australia's most acclaimed cellars line the surrounding countryside. The on-site vineyard anchors a wine program recognised with a 3-glass rating in the Australian Wine List of the Year Awards, drawing from both the estate's own production and the region's finest labels. Forty acres of parkland wrap around tranquil lakes, creating a secluded base for exploring one of the country's premier wine regions. Guests explore the wine collection through self-guided flight experiences in the lakeside lounge, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame views across the water. The format encourages unhurried tasting, moving between estate selections and benchmark Margaret River wines at your own pace. The cellar's depth reflects the region's signature styles—Chardonnay and Cabernet blends shaped by maritime influence and ancient gravelly soils. Twenty-two rooms occupy the main lodge and separate pavilions scattered across the grounds, each positioned to capture lake or parkland views. The private residence offers a self-contained option for longer stays or groups, with direct access to walking trails that wind through the property. Interiors lean toward understated country-house comfort rather than minimalist design, suiting the rural setting and the rhythm of winery visits that define days here. The restaurant has earned 3 chef hats from the Australian Good Food Guide, building seasonal menus around produce from the kitchen garden and nearby farms. Dishes shift with what the surrounding land yields, paired with wines that highlight Margaret River's range—from bright coastal whites to structured reds from inland vineyards. The dining room overlooks the lake, extending meals into the landscape. Beyond the property, the Caves Road wine trail connects dozens of cellar doors, while Meelup Beach and the granite outcrops of Cape Naturaliste lie within short drives. Note that Cape Lodge will close on 30 June 2026 for redevelopment, making current visits the final opportunity to experience this iteration of the property.
